MANILA, Philippines – The country’s newest cardinal, Cotabato Archbishop Orlando Quevedo, is hoping for guidance as he sets out on his latest role. Quevedo, along with 18 others from all over the world, were installed as cardinals by Pope Francis in a ceremony at the Vatican on Saturday. Some of the other cardinals come from countries such as the Pope’s homeland of Argentina, Ivory Coast, Brazil and Haiti – emphasizing Francis’ concern for poor countries. During the ceremony, the Pope urged the new cardinals to shun rivalries and factions. Also making a surprise appearance there – Francis’ predecessor, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
