Phivolcs asks: Is your house structurally safe?
MANILA - In light of recent natural disasters that hit the country, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology will hand out flyers that will help Filipinos assess the structural integrity of their homes. Last year, a powerful quake damaged hundreds of homes in Bohol while thousands are still reeling from the devastation brought by super typhoon Yolanda in Eastern Visayas. Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum said the flyer contains a series of questions about materials used to build homes and procedures done on residences during construction. "Eto ay 12 tanong at ginawa naming simple para makita nila kung ano mahahalagang aspeto ng bahay o konstruksyon ang dapat sinusunod sa paggawa at malalaman nila kung ok ba yung bahay nila o kailangan ba strengthen," he said. "Maliban dito meron tayong workshops, pano pag may nakita nga tayong problema pano na gagawin?" ANC, February 19, 2014
