Skiing disrupted by higher temps in Sochi
  • 5 years ago
Fans of the Winter Olympics were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset over Sochi’s Olympic Park, but the mild sunny weather has not been good for all aspects of the Games. The unusually high temperatures are disrupting events, and organizers are concerned about the outlook with temperatures forecast to rise further this week. Training for the women’s alpine skiing downhill was scrapped to protect the piste, while mild conditions meant a mushy track for the Nordic combined event. Soft snow also caused plenty of falls in freestyle skiing’s slopestyle at the Extreme Park, with organizers shoveling in snow stored from last year. -- Mornings @ ANC, February 12, 2014.
