MANILA -- (UPDATE 2) Comedian-host Vhong Navarro was released from the St. Luke's Medical Center early Thursday afternoon, two weeks after the group of businessman Cedric Lee attacked him at the condominium unit of model Deniece Cornejo in Taguig. After being discharged from the hospital, Navarro is expected to go to the Department of Justice to attest to the complaint he filed against Lee and his group for beating him up on January 22 "dahil ayaw ko lang pong maulit ito." Wearing eyeglasses and his signature checkered polo and pants, Navarro spoke briefly to reporters who mobbed the comedian as he was led out of the hospital. ""Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagdarasal, sa lahat nang nagpapalakas ng loob ko, maraming maraming salamat po," he said. The "It's Showtime" host was escorted out of the hospital by members of Philippine National Police. Upon arriving at the DOJ, Navarro, who was accompanied by his lawyer, Atty. Alma Mallonga, reviewed his original complaint and made minor corrections. Lee and his group mauled Navarro after the actor supposedly tried to rape the 22-year-old Cornejo. Navarro had to be hospitalized due to the "contusion hematoma around his eyes, forehead, chin and some parts of his extremities." He also had to undergo reconstructive surgery due to broken bones in his nose, according to his doctor. While In his hospital bed, Navarro executed a sworn statement and allowed his lawyer, Atty. Alma Mallonga to file charges against Cornejo, Lee and his group, last January 27. The actor filed six criminal charges against Lee and Cornejo's group: serious physical injuries, grave threat, grave coercion, unlawful arrest, blackmail, and serious illegal detention -- a non-bailable offense. Cornejo, on the other hand, filed a rape case against Navarro.
