MANILA -- Budget Secretary Butch Abad said President Benigno Aquino III is disappointed at the alleged black propaganda against the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP). Speaking to ANC's "Headstart" on Tuesday, Abad said the criticisms are unfair since even the World Bank has admitted that the program benefited the Philippine economy. "I think the President is very disappointed with all this black propaganda used against DAP. It's unfair. Look at the economy, we are the only bright spot in the region. And I think the people who work hard in government should be given credit for all that hard work," Abad said. "Look at the corruption indices, look at the competitiveness indices, we have zoomed up in rankings," he added. The Supreme Court set the next hearing on petitions against DAP on February 18. At the previous hearing, Abad said the petitions should be considered moot since the program has been terminated. Meanwhile, the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed public satisfaction with the Aquino administration dropped for a second quarter in a row. The net score was lower than September 2013's "very good" +56 and the record +66 posted in June. But the SWS noted that while the rating dropped, it is still significantly higher compared to previous administrations. Abad said the rating only proves that Aquino still enjoys the confidence of the public. "As far as the ordinary people are concerned, I think they know the story. Otherwise, they wouldn't be giving him 70% plus approval rating... In fact, the highest rating of any president after martial law is not even higher than the lowest rating of this president," he said. -- With ANC
