MANILA – Eight suspected members of a robbery group were arrested in Manila Tuesday morning. Inspector Herculano Mago Jr., chief of Mandaluyong Police's investigation unit, said six males and two females from the notorious Añover-Abraham robbery group were arrested inside their hideout along Sta. Maria Street in Sta. Ana district. Mago said the some of the suspects were also caught using illegal drugs during the raid. The raid was conducted using search and arrest warrants issued by the Mandaluyong City Regional Trial Court Branch 209. The arrested suspects include Rosario Domingo alias "Madam", the live-in partner of the group's leader Bernardo Mallari. Domingo said she had knowledge of the group's criminal activities but claimed she had never been directly involved in any of them. Policemen said Mallari managed to escape after the group fired shots at them during the raid. According to Mago, police began monitoring the movements of the suspects a month ago when five other members of the group were caught along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and in Rodriguez, Rizal. He said the group is involved in bus robberies and snatching in Makati, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Manila and Quezon City. Police recovered two pistols, a grenade, ammunition and a motorcycle from the suspects.
