Pido Jarencio is new GlobalPort coach

MANILA, Philippines – Fiery head coach Pido Jarencio ends an eight-year stint as head coach of the UST Growling Tigers. Jarencio will take over the head coaching position of the GLobalPort Batang Pier in the PBA, replacing interim head coach Ritchie Ticzon. Ticzon steered GlobalPort to a 4-3 start in the PBA Philippine Cup but the team floundered towards the end of the elimination round. Jarencio coached the Tigers for eight seasons, making the Final Four in six of them. He won the UAAP championship in Season 69, his first year as head coach. -- Mornings @ ANC, January 28, 2014.
