MANILA -- Apple opens 2014 in the Philippines with the new MacPro, a sleeker and more powerful desktop computer compared to its predecessor. On ANC's "Future Perfect," MB Tech Lab's Len Amadora introduced the new generation of Apple's MacPro, which stands 9.9 inches tall and 6.6 inches wide and sports a sleek black cylindrical design. The new look was major break from the past generation of Apple desktops which had a boxy look when it was first released back in 2006. The new generation MacPro is only 1/10th in volume compared to its predecessor, but the components have been greatly improved. Apple dubbed it as "the future of pro-level desktop" to emphasize its use for production of high-end movies and music. Due to its cylindrical design, the ports and connections are now easily reachable. It features six Thunderbolt 2 ports plus HDMI. Amadora said tje MacPro's outer sleeve can be unclocked through a small lock switch. "Make sure the power and video connections are disconnected," she added. She called it "an all too powerful professional machine dressed up in a impeccably sleek and polished cylindrical design." But while the new MacPro is powerful and efficient, it may be too expensive for non-professional use. "Because of its very high price of $8,000, it's definitely not something for home use," Amadora admitted.
