MANILA, Philippines – The family of the Filipino doctor killed in the suicide bombing in Yemen is reeling from their loss. Dr. Ruben Valenzuela and six other Filipino hospital workers were among the 52 fatalities in the attack on the Yemen defense ministry compound. Eleven other Filipinos were injured. Valenzuela’s family said he had been operating on a patient at the hospital inside the compound when the attack happened. He was supposed to return home for Christmas this month. The Philippine honorary consul in Yemen says the situation is under control. Last Friday, Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the bombing, saying it was in retaliation for America’s drone war. -- News Now, ANC, December 8, 2013.
