Twisters cause damage, injuries in Cebu

CEBU – Several twisters struck Cebu Monday. The first hit the north reclamation area at past 7 in the evening, toppling over a passenger jeepney. The driver said the wind was really strong and his passengers ran out of fear. No one was hurt in the incident. At past 8 in the evening, another twister struck Looc in Mandaue City. Several houses were damaged including the home of Arnel Hayag, whose roof landed on the property of a neighbor. Neil Fajardo, another resident, said the rain suddenly stopped, their surroundings became quiet and then they heard the howling wind. Residents in Barangay Mactan in Lapu-Lapu share the same story. A twister uprooted several trees and electric posts, causing a power outage. Strong winds also dragged several houses near the shore. A twister also struck in the town of Dulag, Leyte affecting two barangays. Seventeen houses were damaged in Barangay Sungi and another five in Barangay San Miguel. No one was injured in the incident.
