Undocumented OFWs in Saudi face arrest, deportation

MANILA, Philippines – The Saudization deadline will expire today, November 3, and many undocumented Filipinos in Saudi Arabia will face arrest, fines and deportation when the kingdom enforces its crackdown. The undocumented overseas Filipino workers are staying in so-called “tent cities.” Malacañang says more than 4,000 undocumented OFWs have already returned home from Saudi Arabia, and the Palace is hoping that more will follow suit. Saudi’s King initially set the Saudization deadline on July 3rd but late heeded appeals from foreign governments and granted a four-month extension. News Now, ANC, November 3, 2013.
