Damaged basilica disheartens Cebu devotees

CEBU - Devotees are still in shock over the damage sustained by the Basilica del Sto. Niño in Cebu, considered the oldest church in the Philippines and home to one of the country's most important religious icons. A report from ABS-CBN Cebu showed the extent of the damage after the powerful earthquake destroyed the limestone bell tower of the church. Residents said the church has stood witness to a lot of religious activities in Cebu including the annual Sinulog Festival. They said many devotees and tourists come to appreciate the beauty of the church. ANC Headstart, October 16, 2013
