MANILA – Comedian-impersonator Jon Santos takes on the role of Megan Younghusband as the Philippines prepares to welcome Megan Young, the country’s first ever Miss World Winner, on Thursday. Wearing a gown similar to what Young had on during the Miss World 2013 pageant, Santos said her character, Younghusband, is the Filipina beauty’s half-sister. He took the name Younghusband from Phil and James Younghusband, two of the country’s most popular football players today. “Actually, I’m a half-sister, because I’m also a half-brother. I’m half-brother and half-sister in one,” Santos said. Santos, who had a sash that read “Miss 3rd World,” went on to dish out some jokes about the pageant as he played with the names of the countries represented by some of the contestants. “Unlike my half-sister Megan, she made a lot of friends, I made so many enemies,” he said. “Some of the candidates were not so pleasant to me, they were very intense. One was always eating and eating, she was even eating the candidates. Miss Hungary, oh my gosh. “Alam niyo who she ate first? Turkey. Because she was on a diet, she was avoiding a lot of Greece. “And guess where she ate Turkey? On top of China,” he said, drawing laughter from “Mornings@ANC” hosts Ginger Conejero and Paolo Abrera. Santos also made fun of the Filipinos’ apparent obsession with the “signature walk” of beauty queens, saying that they should concentrate on the “signature wave” instead. “They put so much pressure in developing the walk. This time around, we just developed our wave. This is a medium wave,” Santos said as he waves his hand. “This is a very big wave,” he said as he waves his hand from side to side. “There’s the smallest one, which is the microwave.” “But you know what you should develop here on ANC? The pinky wave,” Santos added, referring to ANC anchor Pinky Webb. Kidding aside, Santos stressed the need for Filipinos to “take a little break from so much stress,” citing the many issues faced by the country today. The well-known comedian-impersonator is set to hold a repeat of “Man of Steelettos” following the success of the show last month. He is expected to portray public officials, controversial personalities and other celebrities in the show, such as actress Anne Curtis, singer Charice and alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Napoles. “She’s a woman of steal kasi steal siya nang steal,” he said on Napoles. “Man of Steelettos” will run from October 18 to 19 at Teatrino Promenade Greenhills in San Juan.
