MANILA - Typhoon Santi has left one person dead in Jaen, Nueva Ecija. The unidentified fatality was crushed after a tree fell on his home. The strong winds brought by Santi have uprooted trees and destroyed crops in the province. If the rains continue, flooding is also feared due to the overflowing of the Pantabangan Dam. Nueva Ecija is considering declaring a state of calamity due to the damage caused by the typhoon. Meantime, Jaen Mayor Santiago Austria is appealing for help as his town may soon run out of relief goods. -- News Now, October 12, 2013
