Watching 'Insidious 2'? What to expect

This sequel, whose story starts where the first movie ended, broke box-office records when it opened last Friday the 13th in the US. [VIDEO EMBED: ANC the bureau report 4:26 p.m.] Patrick Wilson, who also starred in another horror-thriller hit, "The Conjuring," comes back in the sequel with Rose Byrne. Noting his consecutive roles in horror films, Wilson said, “Just for this three months. September, I'm done!” Turning serious, Wilson explained why he gravitates toward the genre as an actor. “When I think of the ones that I grew up on, whether it's 'The Shining,' or 'Poltergeist' or 'The Exorcist,' for me they were very actor-friendly. Especially with this movie, it's a very heightened reality. We're not doing a documentary," he said. Wilson started as a Broadway actor and worked as an understudy in the 1995 production of "Miss Saigon," with Filipina actress Joanna Ampil as Kim. "Almost always the girls who played Kim were Filipinos, because you sing a lot. I grew up with singers so the singing culture in the Philippines, I think of all the Asian cultures, it really lends itself to musical theater," he said. In the movie, Wilson and Byrne play a married couple who are being attacked by evil spirits. "It starts here and just goes there,” Byrne said, gesturing upward. Byrne said she hasn't had any ghostly experience in real life, adding that acting opposite Wilson in the movie was what scared her the most. "Patrick was pretty scary in this movie. Sometimes, he was strangling me on the floor and I was like, 'This is weird,'" she said. Although their subject matter is frightening, Wilson and Byrne said the "Insidious" cast and crew who returned to the sequel have fun on the set. “Insidious: Chapter 2” will hit theaters nationwide on Wednesday, September 18.
