MANILA, Philippines – Thousands of Real Madrid fans flocked to welcome Gareth Bale after the nine-time European champions sealed the purchase of the Wales winger from Tottenham Hotspur. The summer’s longest transfer saga finally ended on Sunday when the Spurs announced that they had sold Bale to Real for more than $131 million.
