The Department of Justice (DOJ) has set for September 9 the preliminary investigation hearing on homicide charges against 8 Coast Guard personnel involved in the fatal shooting of a Taiwanese fisherman. The Taiwanese fisherman was shot dead off the coast of Batanes last May 9, which led to a diplomatic row between the Philippines and Taiwan. The National Bureau of Investigation conducted the initial probe on the incident and filed the homicide charges against the Coast Guard personnel with the DOJ. -- Top Story, ANC, August 29, 2013
