SAN PEDRO, Laguna - President Aquino and Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito set aside their differences on Wednesday to help hundreds of families affected by massive flooding in the province. Ejercito welcomed Aquino during the latter's visit to Dela Paz Elementary School in Biñan, Laguna Wednesday morning. Some 328 families or 1,334 evacuees are staying in the school, which serves as a temporary evacuation center. In a short message, Aquino urged affected residents to get in touch with Ejercito, Biñan Mayor Len Alonte and Congressman Dan Fernandez for help. "Nakipag-ugnayan po tayo kila mayor, kay gov pati si Congressman Dan para siguraduhin na mailagay kayo sa maayos sa lalong madaling panahon. He said he is thankful that tropical storm Maring is now out of the Philippine area of responsibility and could mean lesser rainfall. The President said the administration plans to put up a dike along Laguna de Bay to help block flood waters. However, he was quick to admit it will take years to complete the project. Aquino led the distribution of relief packs, consisting of canned goods, coffee, blanket, mat, rice and noodles to the evacuees. He is set to visit evacuees in Mandaluyong Elementary school and in Landayan covered court in San Pedro, Laguna. "Kung tunay na pagmamalasakit sa bayan at kapwa ang pag-uusapan— sa totoong buhay po at hindi sa mga pelikula lamang— buong-buo po ang tiwala ko sa susunod ninyong Gobernador: si Egay San Luis," Aquino said in his speech at a campaign rally in the town plaza.
