Roxas: No lapses in clean-up of CDO blast crime scene
  • 5 years ago
MANILA -- Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas on Wednesday clarified that the Philippine National Police (PNP) did not commit any lapses when they cleaned up the blast site at Cagayan de Oro's Limketkai Center last July 26. Roxas said the personnel followed polic e procedures when they cleared the crime scene 10 hours after the explosion. "It appears that the rules of conduct of the PNP allows [Scene of the Crime Operatives] to surrender the crime scene when they feel they have completed their work already," he said during the Senate inquiry on the explosion Wednesday afternoon. "It appears that the PNP steps were followed," he added. But Roxas said that they may now possibly discuss new terms of procedure so that future crime scenes will not be surrendered or released immediately. The DILG chief earlier questioned why the Cagayan de Oro police immediately cleaned up the blast site, saying that other investigators from Manila or from other countries could have also gathered information from the crime scene itself, making the investigation more thorough.
