The heat kills in the Desert Southwest, so people have to adapt. From the Phoenix Zoo closing early to starting hikes before sunrise, life goes on while temperatures reach deadly levels in the Sonoran Desert. Despite modern amenities like air conditioning, the number of heat-related deaths continues to rise along with the temperatures in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, according to health officials. Accuweather's Jonathan Petramala shows us how some adapt during the summer.
