Italy's Stromboli volcano in the Tyrrhenian Sea erupted today (August 28) sending a huge plume of ash into the air.

The spectacle could be seen for miles in the surrounding sea.

The filmer told Newsflare: "I found myself on a pedal boat with my family, wife and two young children,

"When at a certain point I heard a roar, turning in the direction of Stromboli, I saw a huge black cloud rising from the volcano, an impressive 'spectacle.'
