00:09 question I get asked is how should a
00:12 duct system be cleaned and this one's
00:15 very intense and we're probably going to
00:17 do a whole segment about it but with
00:19 this one it depends on the nature of
00:21 what you need cleaned if you had a house
00:23 fire and the duct system is gonna get
00:26 reused there's professional companies
00:29 that come out and they have special
00:30 cleaners and special solutions that they
00:33 clean the duct system with to remove all
00:34 the soot and the smells and all that
00:36 other stuff you go from one extreme to
00:39 the other which you get the guys that
00:42 offer the I think it's $38 was the last
00:45 one that I saw a $38 duct cleaning and
00:47 these guys show up out at the house with
00:49 a little two gallon shop back and they
00:51 pull up a register and stick the thing
00:52 in there and you know vacuum up the
00:54 Cheerios that are out there at the boot
00:55 that's not really a duct cleaning eater
00:57 right there just vacuum up the trash
00:59 that fell through the register a real
01:01 duct cleaning in a normal case could be
01:05 something just as simple as sealing the
01:06 ductwork up so that you don't pull in
01:08 those contaminants any more it'll make
01:10 your house more energy efficient give
01:12 you a better heating and cooling but
01:14 it'll also keep them cleaner get a good
01:16 filter maybe something like an air
01:18 scrubber or UV light and add it to it
01:20 and the duct system is gonna stay clean
01:21 enough the duct systems are smooth
01:24 cylindrical on the inside
01:26 not a whole lot sticks to them unless
01:28 you get water in there or maybe it's
01:29 saggy cuz it's not been installed
01:31 properly but a good properly installed
01:33 and properly sealed duct system should
01:35 never need to be cleaned but to actually
01:38 clean it you want to do it the right way
01:39 you don't want to just stick a vacuum in
01:41 there or go to some extremes with the
01:43 guys with the big yellow trucks and the
01:44 big hose and the vacuums and all that
01:46 stuff because they're just pulling
01:46 condense the contaminants into the
01:48 system anyway through all the leaks
