Korean Film Council submits 'Parasite' as Oscar contender
  • 5 years ago
The Cannes-winning film 'Parasite' will be South Korea's entry for the best international feature film at the 2020 Oscars.
The Korean Film Council selected director Bong Joon-ho's seventh feature film 'Parasite' for next year's Oscars on Thursday.
The council said it chose 'Parasite' over the seven other candidates as the film is already globally renowned,... is artistic enough to represent South Korea,... and that director Bong is relatively well-known.
'Parasite' won the Palme d'Or at Cannes this May, the first Korean film to win the award. It has also been viewed more than ten million times in South Korea.
