South Korea has urged Japan to give a clear and detailed plan of how it will clean up the contaminated water from Fukushima.
Seoul's foreign affairs ministry summoned Japan's economic minister at the Japanese embassy in Seoul on Monday to relay the government's concerns on the radioactive waste water.
It urged Japan to present its stance on Greenpeace Korea's report that Japan has decided to discharge more than 1 billion liters of the waste water into the Pacific Ocean, which would cause serious damage to the whole ocean and its neighboring countries.
Seoul offered to work together with Tokyo to find a solution to the matter so that the surrounding ecosystem is not harmed.
The economic minister reportedly explained the Japanese government's stance and said he will deliver Seoul's concerns to Tokyo.
