In Hindu mythology, the 8th carnation of Vishnu, Sri Krishna, is the only one who appears in different colors in every stage of his earthly life. Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm in India in the month of July or August. According to the Hindu calendar this religious festival is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksh or the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadon.

जन्‍माष्‍टमी का महत्‍व श्रीकृष्‍ण जन्‍माष्‍टमी का पूरे भारत वर्ष में विशेष महत्‍व है. यह हिन्‍दुओं के प्रमुख त्‍योहारों में से एक है. बता दें कि इस बार जन्माष्टमि 23 अगस्त को है या 24 अगस्त को मनाया जाए इस पर लोगों के बीच बहुत कंफ्यूजन हो रहा है। आपको बता दें, मान्‍यता के अनुसार भगवान श्रीकृष्‍ण का जन्‍म भाद्रपद यानी कि भादो माह की कृष्‍ण पक्ष की अष्‍टमी को हुआ था, जो कि इस बार 23 अगस्त को पड़ रहा है।
