Rep. Rashida Tlaib Decides
Against Visiting Israel.
In a recent statement posted to Twitter,
United States Rep. Rashida Tlaib explained
why she decided against visiting Israel.
I have decided that visiting my grandmother
under these oppressive conditions stands against
everything I believe in--fighting against racism,
oppression & injustice, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, via statement .
Tlaib had originally been barred from entering the
country along with fellow representative Ilhan Omar,
due to their outspoken criticism of Israel. .
The next day, she requested permission to enter
on humanitarian grounds, promising to “respect
the restrictions imposed on her in the visit.”.
Shortly after being granted permission however,
members of Tlaib’s family urged her to stand strong
in her beliefs and not give in to the restrictions. .
We reject the decision of the Israeli occupation
to ban the entry of Congresswomen Rashida
Tlaib…It should be her natural right, not a favor
to ask for, to visit her homeland and family, Muftiya and Ghassan Tlaib, via CNN
