UST keeps UP winless; La Salle escapes Adamson

MANILA, Philippines – The UST Growling Tigers kept the UP Fighting Maroons winless in UAAP Season 76, while the De La Salle Green Archers squeaked past the Adamson Falcons. UST forwards Aljon Mariano and Kevin Ferrer combined for 34 points and 16 rebounds as the Tigers beat the Maroons, 79-69. UST improved to 4-2, good for second behind unbeaten FEU, while UP dropped to 0-6. In the second game, La Salle took down Adamson, 70-67, despite squandering a double-digit lead in the final quarter. The Green Archers were ahead by as much as 17 points, but the Falcons went on a searing run and were able to tie the game in the final period. La Salle held on for the win, however, to stop their two-game skid and tie their victims in the standings with 3-3 records. -- Mornings @ ANC, July 25, 2013
