Jamaican coach warns young athletes to be careful

MANILA, Philippines – The coach of Jamaican sprinters Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson warned young athletes to be careful about who they trust amid the doping scandal that rocked athletics this week. Italian police are investigating the two sprinters and their Canadian trainer for suspicion of violating doping laws. The Military Police Health Protection Unit had reportedly seized some 50 boxers during a search of the hotel in northeast Italy and would analyze pills, vials, sprays and creams to see if they contained banned substances. Powell and Simpson have confirmed that they tested positive for a banned stimulant in the Jamaican Athletics Championships in June. -- Mornings @ ANC, July 17, 2013
