MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine national basketball team defeated the visiting Shanghai Sharks, 80-72, during the Philippine-China friendship games at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Gilas coach Chot Reyes was happy to see his team play this well despite the limited practice and jetlag. The Sharks, a team owned by former NBA star center Yao Ming, played minus veteran guard Liu Wei, who played for a time for the Los Angeles Lakers. Gary David led the team with 14 points, while Japeth Aguilar registered 11. -- Mornings @ ANC, May 7, 2013
