MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino conducted a test run of the automated guideway transit (AGT) in UP Diliman. The train is capable of transporting 60 passengers at a time and will traverse the 465-meter concrete elevated track that stretches from the College of Fine Arts up to University Avenue. The AGT is a project of the Department of Science and Technology. The train is designed by Filipino DOST engineers and fabricated locally. It is emission-free and electricity driven. A second AGT, which will be able to carry 120 passengers, will be built in Bicutan, Taguig adjacent to the DOST complex based on the results of the current testing.
