Why Are Gaming YouTubers Constantly Angry
  • 5 years ago
More gaming Youtube content creators appear to be focused on creating videos that focus on inciting outrage among their viewers. I discuss 2 possible reasons-from the need to make money from views and maybe from a need for purpose.Either way, there is a deep passion for gaming in the community and I ultimately have decided that I will not be focusing on the outrage but instead focus on other aspects of the culture.

We are surrounded by young people crippled by anxiety and depressions, but at the heart of it , I think that think most people a have real loss in understanding what their purpose in life is.

In the past our purpose was simple. We woke up and did everything in our ability to survive against the world. We hunted for food and in turn we were hunted. Simply, surviving every day was our purpose in life.

But things change. Over time we formed communities and villages, cities and towns, nations and alliances. In the ever-uniting world, we as the individual have become an abstract figure in the greater reality of our community. Today, simply surviving is not a strong enough motivator to be the single great purpose of our life.
-The reality is, we need and hunger for something to make us stand out in the crowd. To be a Rockstar to be loved and respected. We secretly hunger for the chance to make a stand and have our voices heard.
In the 1930’s the great depression swept across the USA. As the name implies, millions of people could not find a job, they had nothing to do, they had no purpose. But then WW2 began and these people were called up to defend homelands from the great enemies that sough to kill them. For the first time in many of these young peoples lives, they had a real purpose something that made them feel like they belonged, they had something worth dying for.

But modern life is much harder.
We do not have simple enemies to fight our enemies have become abstract.
For example, We might love the idea of Space X, exploring other planets in our solar system or even fighting against climate change, but these challenges are far to challenging for most of us to deal with. Because, most of us are not scientist, engineers or lawyers all of which are involved in developing the solutions and enforcing the change in our society to tackle these challenges.
And because of this, we tend to feel a loss of real power and purpose. As our frustration with our inability to enforce change sets in we start looking for ways to vent our frustration.

And this is the dilemma that most youtuber gamers face.
Most of us are not in a position in which we can make a real impact on the real challenges that face our world. And because of this, we tend to harness our frustration and anger and direct it towards fighting smaller less consequential battles
. Smaller battles that allow us to make a stand that in some psychological way, allow us experience a sense of purpose, that what we do makes a difference. Fighting against EA , hating on mobile gamers, and
