This video of an elderly couple fighting away two robbers armed with sickles has gone viral on social media.The incident occured at 9 pm on sunday in Kadaiyam in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli, two masked robbers sneaked into the home of 70-year-old Shanmugavel and 65-year-old Senthamarai,The video shows Shanmugavel sitting in the verandah of his residence when suddenly a burglar, who creeps up behind him, throws a piece of cloth around the older man and tries to strangulate him. As Shanmugavel fights back and tries to get up, another burglar enters the scene wielding a machete.Hearing her husband scream, the wife comes running out of the house and immediately starts throwing her slippers chappals at the robbers. While trying to fight back, Shanmugavel falls down from his chair, but manages to get up and continues to put up a fight. Both of them then start hurling plastic chairs at the two burglars, the couple ultimately drove them away.The police have registered an FIR against the ROBBERS.
