FDA Is Investigating
Seizures Linked to E-Cigarettes Since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
announced the probe in April, the number of
investigated cases has expanded by almost 100. The 127 cases occurred
between 2010 and 2019. They included instances of
fainting and other episodes
possibly related to seizures. Outgoing FDA Commissioner
Scott Gottlieb has been outspoken
on the possible dangers of e-cigarettes,
referring to teen vaping as an "epidemic." Through an online portal, the
FDA is encouraging the public
to come forward with "unexpected
health or product issues.” Ned Sharpless, FDA Commissioner, via Gizmodo Gottlieb called the uptick in
reported cases of seizures possibly
linked to vaping "concerning."
