Rhythmic movements have a tasteful and symbolic value, and are often recognized as dance by specific cultures. Dance can be classified through choreography, its repertoire of movement or its place of origin. A beautiful art that utilizes the body and a range of movements of which the body is capable.

But these words alone cannot even begin to explain the emotion and passion associated with dance. A way to unwind, a way of living, a stress-buster and a pick-me-up at the end of a bad day.

There is an unimaginable number of performing arts or dance forms in this world. In Hinduism, we have even given it a divine status by connecting it to the cosmic dance of the Nataraja, or Lord Shiva. Now, whether, we connect It to the divine, to religion or to the more regular form it normally takes, or just a passing phase or a deep passion, dance can take various forms and mean different things to different people.

Bharat Jam organized by Manish Yadav aka Manish Popper recently curated a gathering of passionate amateur dancers in Delhi. Being the winner of numerous underground dance battles in India, Manish has also represented India in South Korea, Russia & Singapore as an underground battle dancer with the support of XEEL EVENTS.

Bharat Jam is a HIP-HOP Dance Battle making the right kind of noise in the capital. Bharat, Delhi’s own HIP-HOP Underground Dance Battle found its roots in the cosmic dance circle on 11th of March, 2017. At the battle you will experience the diversity in this art and the immense talent present here. Dancers of all age groups participate in this power-pumped battle. This year Bharat Jam saw participation from not just India but from France as well.

Bharat Jam has been gathering increasingly more participation from entertainers and onlookers alike and this year they saw 900 participants out of which as many as 500 were dancers. Spread over three days, the first day was dedicated to workshops given by the judges of the battle, where Jamsy conducted a workshop for a powerful dance form, Krump. For b-boying, Kid Kaarum took charge and Slim Boogie spoke about popping.

On the second day the prelims were held, where eliminations took place as per four categories, namely, Popping, Crump, B-boying and crew battles leading to a powerful display of skill and passion on the third and final day.

A powerful display of skill and passion, whether it was seen through the three kids who could dance-off any adult or through the breakthrough made by Sanju. Sanju is a 17-year-old boy who lives for his passion for dance, which he practices with his friends in a parking lot in South Delhi.
