The flagship project of the erstwhile Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government - Anna Canteen - launched in July last year by former CM Chandrababu Naidu is likely to shut down from August 1. Ahead of the recent Lok Sabha and the assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh, the TDP government, in line with the Amma Canteens of Tamil Nadu, launched the Anna Canteen across Andhra Pradesh. A total 204 canteens are now operational in the state.

రాష్ట్రంలో ఒక్కటొక్కటిగా మూతపడుతున్న అన్నా క్యాంటన్ల చుట్టూ రాజకీయాలు ముసురుకుంటున్నాయి. క్యాంటీన్ల మూసివేతను అడ్డుగా పెట్టుకుని అధికార వైఎస్ఆర్ కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీపై విరుచుకుపడుతోంది తెలుగుదేశం. ప్రభుత్వాన్ని విమర్శించడానికి దొరికిన ఏ చిన్న అవకాశాన్ని కూడా వదులుకోవడానికి ఎంత మాత్రమూ సిద్ధంగా లేరు ఆ పార్టీ నాయకులు. నిరుపేదలకు అతి తక్కువ ధరలకే ఆహారాన్ని అందజేయడానికి తమ ప్రభుత్వం నెలకొల్పిన అన్న క్యాంటీన్లను నడపటం ముఖ్యమంత్రి వైఎస్ జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డి ప్రభుత్వానికి చేత కావట్లేదని తెలుగుదేశం పార్టీ నాయకులు ఘాటుగా విమర్శిస్తున్నారు. టీడీపికి చెందిన పాలకొల్లు ఎమ్మెల్యే నిమ్మల రామానాయుడు ఓ అడుగు ముందే ఉన్నారు. పాలకొల్లులో మూతపడ్డ అన్నక్యాంటీన్ వద్ద షామియానా వేసి మరీ.. సొంత ఖర్చుతో పేదలకు భోజనం పెట్టారు.
