U.S. suggests 'standstill' between S. Korea, Japan to buy time for trade talks: Reuters

The United States is urging South Korea and Japan to consider signing a "standstill agreement" on their escalating trade dispute.
According to Reuters, citing a senior U.S. official on Tuesday,... this proposal would not resolve their conflict, but buy time for the countries to negotiate.
Washington is closely monitoring the diplomatic spat between its two allies and hopes to help fix it.
President Trump expressed such hopes earlier this month,... and National Security Advisor John Bolton visited the two countries last week for related talks.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is also expected to meet this week with the foreign ministers of South Korea and Japan on the sidelines of the ASEAN regional forum in Bangkok.
