Christian rapper Flame, real name Marcus Gray, filed suit against Perry and her co-writers in 2014 for plagiarizing his song, "Joyful Noise.".
Gray's legal team claimed "Dark Horse" copied the beat of "Joyful Noise.".
They're trying to shove Mr. Gray into some gospel music alleyway that no one ever visits, Attorney Michael A Kahn, via 'The Guardian'.
Perry's attorney's claimed her team had never even heard the song.
[They're] trying to own basic building blocks of music, the alphabet of music that should be available to everyone, Attorney Christine Lepera, via 'The Guardian'.
However, Gray's legal team convinced a California jury that "Joyful Noise" was a widely known song, resulting in a guilty verdict for Perry and her team.
The hearing concerning the amount of damages that will be awarded will take place on Tuesday.
