Why do so many people like Kombucha?
The fizzy, fermented tea known as kombucha was once relatively unknown. Now, it's having a surge of popularity. It's been touted for aiding digestion, boosting energy, and even helping with weight loss. But according to Business Insider, the bubbly beverage can have some surprising impacts on your health. Kombucha is known for its gut-health benefits, but drinking fizzy, gaseous beverages can stretch the gut and cause bloat. And for certain groups of people kombucha can be dangerous because it's often unpasteurized, or not heat-treated to kill pathogens. Raw kombucha can cause infection in those with weakened immune systems due to pregnancy, age, or illness.
