Anwar dismisses criticisms against Wong's Seda appointment

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed criticism raised on the appointment of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) deputy chairperson Wong Kah Woh as the head of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (Seda).

He said Seda is not a government-linked company. It's a statutory body, it is not a business entity as such.

Wong was appointed as the new Seda chief effective July 1, replacing Ahmad Fauzi Hasan.

Critics to his appointment had said that there could be a conflict of interest and that he should not head any government agency or GLCs to avoid becoming beholden to the executive.

There were also questions on whether Harapan was breaking its manifesto promise against political appointments.
