North Korea is also criticizing Japan for its export curbs on the South, accusing Japan of using trade to cover up its wartime atrocities.
Speaking exclusively to South Korean broadcaster KBS at an international forum in the Philippines,... the vice chairman of Pyeongyang's Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, Ri Jong-hyok, said the restrictions are not just economic retaliation.
Rather, he said, Tokyo is using them to whitewash its war crimes.
He also said Japan needs to apologize and compensate the Koreans it used for forced labor and those it sexually enslaved... if it wants to mend ties with Pyeongyang.
