Pres. Moon to discuss state affairs with retired military officials
  • 5 years ago
President Moon Jae-in is holding a luncheon today at the Blue House with elders from the military reserves... to seek their advice on state affairs.
Around a dozen will be attending mostly the heads of different veterans associations.
Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo and Joint Chiefs of Staff Park Han-ki will also attend.
The president is expected to highlight efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula.
He is also likely to emphasize the importance of discipline in the army,... especially in light of a North Korean boat recently entering South Korean waters without being detected.
According to a Blue House official,... this is part of President Moon's efforts to hear from various groups in society.
He's met previously with elders from other social groups, including business.
But this is the first time President Moon has separately met with retired officials from the military.
