Pear-Shaped Women Are Healthier Than Apple-Shaped Women Are you an apple? Or a pear? A study published in the European Heart Journal has revealed that not all fat is created equal. A higher "trunk fat" concentration in women was associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis. Higher leg fat was a predictor of lower risk of coronary artery disease. Women with high trunk fat and low leg fat had a more than three-fold increased risk. Study authors, via CNN
