Emotional Stories From Pittsburgh Gotcha Day! - A Dog’s Journey Home (E11)

After 90+ dog transport trips, Tracy’sDogs co-founder Scott Whyatt knows to be ready for anything. In this episode of A Dog’s Journey Home, Scott’s transport will arrive with 62 dogs who were loaded up on an 80 degree day in Texas and will now be meeting their new families in the chill of early winter in Pennsylvania. It’s Gotcha Day in Pittsburgh!
Pennsylvania has been a strong supporter of Tracy’s Dogs over the years and Scott is always thrilled to return there. “Pittsburgh is a great city for us,” Scott noted. “These people waited outside, its 30 degrees, some for over an hour. There are more Tracy’s Dogs in Pennsylvania than any other state across the country. This is a great market with great volunteers.”
Scott knows how to set the right expectations for the excited families who are so eager to meet the dogs they have only seen online. “You have seen their pictures and videos, but they have not seen yours yet,” he reminded them. “You are a stranger and they will be tired and might be a little irritated. If you’ve driven across the country with your children you know how they are after 18 hours in a car. Please be patient.”
You can feel the excitement in the air as Scott and his team begin to bring out the dogs to meet their new families for the first time. Cheer along as Abbot, Shalene, Rosie, Grace and others start their new life!
