Cockroaches Are Becoming
More Resistant to Insecticides A new study from Purdue University says
german roaches are adapting to the substances. Even though roaches live no longer than
six months, they are still able to
evolve in order to survive obstacles. For testing, three roach colonies were
each sprayed with a different insecticide
that can be found in stores. The insecticides used in testing, which went on for over six months, were
also registered by the E.P.A. One colony was sprayed with
three insecticides, while the next
got two and the last received one. Researchers went on to find
that most of the roaches, even when
sprayed with multiple substances, did not die. The only chemical able to kill roaches
was abamectin gel bait. Research team, via
