TNM Investigation: Threat of trafficking in Tamil Nadu post Gaja cyclone
  • 5 years ago
In November 2017, cyclone Gaja ravaged 11 districts in Tamil Nadu's Delta region. The strong winds and rain left behind massive damage to property and agriculture. But even as people begin to recover from the cyclone, more danger has arrived in Tamil Nadu's villages in the form of trafficking agents, looking to exploit people's distress in the face of disaster. And amongst their victims is 49-year-old Marimuthu, a labourer who sold his son for Rs.10,000.
