Former MP Willy Komen has died at the age of 77 after a short illness.

According to his son Raymond Komen, who is the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Cooperative in Nakuru County, his father died on Saturday night at his home in Menengai, Rongai Constituency.

Komen served as a Member of Parliament in three constituencies. He served as MP of Rongai in 1992, Nakuru town 1975 and Nakuru West 1969.

In 2002, his bid to reclaim the Rongai seat after ten years of service was marred in controversy as his own son David Kimuge decided to contest against him.

Both father and son lost the seat to Eric Morogo.

Nakuru County Jubilee Party Secretary- General Peter Mtumishi Cheruiyot noted that Komen would be remembered for his selflessness and efforts to unite the Kalenjin community.
