According to 'Matrix' producer,
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Keanu Reeves' Neo could have
been played by a female actress. Not only that, it would have been
Reeves' 'Speed' co-star, Sandra Bullock. di Bonaventura says that producers went to Bullock after Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio turned
down the role. He adds that despite Neo being a male,
the script would have been changed for her. During a 2009 interview, the Oscar-winning actress admitted that she passed on appearing in 'The Matrix.'
