There is no doubt the F-14 was the most gorgeous of combat aircraft. While the F-15 Eagle wasn`t far behind in terms of good looks, she was superior in all other respects. Instead of fantasizing what a "Super Tomcat 21" would`ve been like, it is more rewarding to imagine what amazing aircraft an Air Force version of the F-14 would`ve been. Carrier-based airplanes need to have "sea legs" in order to deal with the additional strain of carrier landings - i.e., an airplane that could`ve beern much lighter and therefore could have carried even more fuel and weaponry than its naval sibling.
