China’s Hip-Hop Dancing Grandma
In China, you’ll find grandmas dancing in public parks everywhere. They usually dance in sync in big groups. But this grandma moves to her own rhythm.

Every day, Zhang Dongdong brings her own speaker to the park and dances to hip-hop, R&B, and disco—while dressed in leopard print and a colorful scarf.

Zhang was inspired to freestyle after going to a Celine Dion concert in the United States.

Impressed by the spectacle of so many male dancers on stage, she decided to start her own group of freestyle dancing grannies in China.
