In a novel move to prevent irregularities in the distribution of Public Distribution Scheme (PDS) rice, the state government has decided to supply rice in small bags. rice packed in 5kgs, 10kgs, 15 kgs bags will be supplied through PDS shops .This will not only Restrict leakages in the PDS, but also help consumers buy properly weighted stock. The new scheme will be implemented from September 1. Civil supplies minister Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Nani) said that the chief minister had cleared the new proposal tosupply PDS rice in small bags. He said that the government will also be launching home delivery of essential commodities, including rice from September 1.
